Originally a quintet known as the Young Republicans,
The Quick is another example of how fast things
can happen.
Earle Mankey, who had left
Sparks for engineering / producing records with the Beach Boys, produced the
Quick's excellent first album "Mondo Deco"
(Mercury 1976). Their lineup included guitarist/songwriter Steve Hufsteter,
lead singer Danny Wilde, drummer Danny Benair, keyboardist Billy Bizeau, and
bassist Ian Ainsworth.
Danny
Wilde joined Great Buildings (Apart From the Crowd 1980) and later found
success with Phil Solem as the Rembrandts (with Friends' Theme) ; Steve
Hufsteter became a member of the Dickies, he then joined the Cruzados on
their first album. Danny Benair joined the Weirdos and later played with
Three O'Clock (another band produced by Earle Mankey).
A stunning record and a long
lost gem.
The album has never been re-issued to this day on CD.
I did a transfer from my LP to cd-r in 2005 (with SoundForge
7.0), and i revamped the original
sleeve in order to get the pictures you can see
